Our Research Process
Every assessment published on Adrift undergoes a rigorous validation process. Our quality thresholds are established by the Nederlands Instituut van Psychologen (Dutch Institute of Psychologists).
The process of validating a new test typically involves the following steps:
- Generate a questionnaire — draft candidate items for the new assessment.
- Collect responses — have at least 50 participants complete the questionnaire alongside a known, valid reference test.
- Statistical item analysis — validate which items are good or bad and remove the poor-performing items. Steps 1–3 are repeated until the test meets the established quality thresholds.
- Norm development — develop norms for the test to enrich results, so that a candidate's scores can be compared to others in similar circumstances.
